I had a bit of a false start as I had gone on auto pilot and had gone to Tate Britain when it was actually at Tate Modern ( duh!) Ended up having to deal with an unexpected conquering my fears moment as I had to walk across the Millennium Bridge, must have been an interesting sight…me, walking very fast dead in the middle of the bridge , walking through groups and couples, telling myself I will be fine and I’m nearly there all the way across…funnily enough people moved a side and avoided all eye contact with me….go figure!!! J
The exhibition began with her art work. I Knew about Delaunay s work as a fashion and textiles designer, I had not realized she had begun as a 2D artist. I could see elements of her soon to emerge textile work in her paintings, particularly with her combination of colours.
The room I stayed in the longest was room 6, yep the fashion and textiles area J
It was filled with samples, some sketch books and clothing. There was also a short film real of some of her work and the Delaunay.
I didn’t take any pictures, just sketched, as I was being good, for once and obeyed the no photography rule…not sure why????Must have been the knock on effect from the trauma of walking over that bridge! However below are links to bloggers who were able the take pictures.
The exhibition ends on 9th August. It is definitely worth a visit.
